So, as I mentioned back on Thanksgiving, it has been nasty lately in St. Louis. So when I took a minute during lunch to take my pictures last Wednesday, I thought I was lucky because it wasn't raining...until the moment I stepped outside. So, this is wet, rained-on, freezing cold Ashley.
And I was so cold I forgot to take a close up on this necklace, but it's so neat looking! The beads on it are all iridescent-y!
Also, I've always been a fan of Modern Family - it really tickles my funny bone. But the best thing about that show is that the character Cam is from Missouri, and regularly pokes fun at us (which is fine, because Eric Stonestreet, the actor, is from Kansas...which is even more podunk than Missouri). Anyway, he spoke of our lively cowboy poetry scene in last week's episode. Which is hilarious, because people really do think Missouri is super country. I used to work at the St. Louis airport as a cocktail waitress and people would be SHOCKED that there were buildings and that it wasn't all farmland. And that we have highways (no joke. But hey, ever heard of Route 66? Yeah, it kinda ran right through Missouri). People also regularly had no idea where Missouri actually is (here's a hint - it's the middle), and it was a common misconception that the Gateway Arch is sponsored by McDonald's and that it goes over the Mississippi River (and it doesn't).
So that's your "Missouri isn't all country" lesson for the day.
I want to find this cowboy poetry scene.
